My great grandfather was from Massachusetts and was 17 in 1866. I beleive that he ran away to Maine to goin the 32nd Main. Where do you find the enlistment records and the historical records of the Civil War units from Maine? A search some time ago indicated that he changed his name form James V. O'Connor to James Vincent to avoid detection. |

The Maine Civil War Discussion Forum (www.cwoodcock.com/forum/db_TalkToMeV2.cgi?forum_name=maineboard) is a tremendous resource for this question. The volunteers there are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. There is also a link there to a great online resource guide for ME Civil War research at (www.cwoodcock.com/firstmaine/maine_ancestor_search.pdf). I strongly encourage you to ask these experts. Good luck! |

The Maine State Archives has the civil war records and burial cards for those men that served from Maine. |

How would I go about finding pictures of world war 11 military men who served, I am looking for a picture of my Grandfather Lawrence Perle Dwelley who was in the Army, and also, where he served at, and what platoon, not sure what area he was in. I know that in 1946-1948 he was in Tacoma Washington, but he is originally from Maine. Also where do I go to get his service record, new to this so I have no clue. Any Help would be greatly appriciated Thank You God Bless You Melissa |
