I'm looking for the documents of the Thatcher GAR Post #111 in Portland. The post archives and membership rolls most likely would have been passed down to some organization for historical value when the post closed. Also I am curious as to exactly where the post was located in Portland. I know the Bosworth Post #2 was on Free Street . My paternal GG grandfather William H. Clark was a member of the Thatcher Post and my maternal GG grandfather John H.B. Morrill was a member of the Bosworth Post.

Try the Longfellow house and the Portland Public Library. Both have extensive collections. Try to find a city directory for the time in question. The Portland reference room librarians may be able to help you ascertain where the files are located.
