I am researching my family history. Almost all of one side of my family (surname BYER) settled in Bangor, ME. One area of mystery to me is why Bangor and how they arrived? I have no immigration records for them. If anyone has any information or hints, it would be appreciated.

Sincerely,
Russ Byer

Russ:
I, too, am researching my Byer Family. My name is Joan Byer Hawse. I have gotten my line back to George William Byer (Bier, Boyer, Bowyer, Behr, Bayer, etc.) He was born abt 1780 and probably in Virginia. I speculate that he migrated from Pennsylvania. You are the first person I have heard of who has Byer Family from Maine. I really don't think I can help you, except to tell you I have seen where some Byer Family landed in Canada. Maybe they did and then migrated down to Maine. It may be possible that they migrated from PA up to Maine, but I would question that. Good luck on your search. If I run across any further info that may interest you I will post it here.

Yours,
Joan Byer Hawse
