Maine native son William Henry Harrison Seeley was one of only five American recipients of the Victoria Cross [VC] -- Britain's highest military medal award -- for his bravery during the Royal Navy bombardment of Simonoseki, Japan, in 1864.
I wish to include details of Seeley's origins in the book I am writing about VC recipients.
He was born in Topsham, Maine, May 1, 1840, but died at Dedham, Mass., October 1, 1914. and lies buried in an unmarked grave in Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton, Mass.
I would very much appreciate hearing from anyone who could provide me with information on Seeley's life.
Please contact me by e-mail -- sidneya@shaw.ca
Thank you in advance.
