I am working on my family history and am looking for relatives of the Mahan family from the Bristol area who came from MacMahan Island in Georgetown. I'm trying to clarify those that came to MacMahan Island and where they came from. We assume Scotland/Ireland.

My grandfather was Wesley Mahan, his father and mother were John MacMahan and Helen Blaisdell of Pemaquid Hbr. Me.

They might be descendants of Terrance McMahon & his wife, Elizabeth Donnell, who married in 1745. They had a number of children born in Georgetown, Me. Over time, it is concievable that the "Mc" portion was dropped.
