Search the Library Catalog

At this time, the majority of our library holdings are electronically cataloged, including general history and Maine history books (town, school and church histories, vital records, etc), as well as some manuscript, map, and pamphlet collections. A card catalog is available in house for those items not yet cataloged in Minerva.

If you don't find what you are looking for, please notify us. It's possible that we may own the item but it is not in our catalog for various reasons.

Maine Historical Society Research Library collection records are being entered in Minerva — a statewide integrated library system created by the Maine Info Net Project, in association with the Maine State Library. The database holds records of books, maps, pamphlets, and manuscripts.

Museum records are not being entered in this database. We hope to offer a similiar search in the future.
