Union patriotic imagery was common during the Civil War. It was found on letterhead and envelopes that soldiers used, on memorial posters of soldiers' service created after the war, and in many other printed formats. This show explored how the themes of union, disunion, rebellion, and freedom were expressed on letterhead and on soldier memorials, and drew from the Maine Historical Society collections.

Patriotic Imagery was curated by Candace Kanes, Ph.D. and was on view in the Shettleworth Lecture Hall.
