After sixteen years at the helm, Executive Director Richard D'Abate is retiring to pursue his many outside interests. After careful consideration of needs and Richard's desires, the Trustees plan to create The Richard D'Abate Endowment Fund for Scholarship and Special Programs in his honor. This endowed fund will ensure much-needed financial underwriting in perpetuity for visiting scholars, scholars-in-residence, lectures, exhibits and special events.

MHS continues to be challenged financially to grow its levels of giving in order to keep pace with the organization's programmatic needs. The Richard D'Abate Endowment Fund for Scholarship and Special Programs will advance scholarly activity and in turn attract more members through exciting events and academic relationships.

Richard has raised the profile of MHS to new heights and worked to bring diverse groups and constituencies together for the public good and to make history accessible to all. The museum and cultural arts community across Maine is better for Richard's involvement and steadfast commitment.

Our donors and members are an integral part of our successful efforts to preserve the heritage and history of Maine. Your recognition of Richard through the generous support of this endowment fund is critical to its success. Thank you.
