An Important Coronavirus Update

As cases of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) increase in the United States and around the globe, the Maine Historical Society is taking steps in response to the growing public health concern.

We recommend these trusted websites for up-to-date information:

Updated May 21, 2020: All in-person MHS public activities are currently suspended through June 30, 2020. This includes the Brown Library, museum gallery and store, Wadsworth-Longfellow House and Garden, as well as all on-site public and education programs, school visits, and facility rentals. We are currently hard at work planning for ways to safely re-engage with the public, and will provide updates on this page as they become available.

Online resources and programs, including MHS' 198th Annual Meeting, continue virtually, and MHS staff continues to work, in accordance with recommended guidelines. Research requests may be submitted by email, by using the Ask a Librarian form, or refer to our research request form for more in-depth requests. Individuals may continue to access our online resources at: mainememory.net, mainehistory.org, hwlongfellow.org and vintagemaineimages.com. Please consider shopping local, and visit our museum's online store.

Please continue to check this page for future changes to programs, events, and hours of operation. If you have questions or if we can assist you further, please contact Cindy Murphy at cmurphy@mainehistory.org or 207-774-1822, ext. 201.
