An Important Coronavirus Update

As cases of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) increase in the United States and around the globe, the Maine Historical Society is taking steps in response to the growing public health concern.

Read our COVID-19/"Coronavirus" FAQ on the outbreak and MHS's response.

We recommend these trusted websites for up-to-date information:

Effective March 16, 2020, MHS is suspending all public activities—the library, gallery, and public and education programs through April 30, 2020. This means that the library and the gallery will be closed to the public and all public programs, school visits, and facility rentals will be cancelled with the hopes of rescheduling in the future.

MHS staff will continue to work. Research requests can be submitted by email, please refer to our research request form for instructions. Individuals can continue to access our online resources at: mainememory.net, mainehistory.org, hwlongfellow.org and vintagemaineimages.com. Please visit our museum's web store at mainehistorystore.com.

Please continue to check this Update for future changes to programs, events, hours of operation and potential closures. If you have questions or if we can assist you, please contact Cindy Murphy at cmurphy@mainehistory.org or 207-774-1822, ext. 201.
