An Important Coronavirus Update

Updated June 26, 2020: Maine Historical Society is re-opening July 8, 2020 with an abbreviated schedule and limited capacity. The Brown Research Library, MHS Museum Galleries & Store, and Longfellow Garden will re-open with a Wednesday–Saturday schedule (hours vary by department). The Wadsworth-Longfellow House remains closed until further notice.

We look forward to hosting your visit. While we want to make your visit with us as enjoyable, informative, and memorable as possible, we have instituted new policies and procedures to try to keep people and collections safe, while limiting the spread of COVID-19.

MHS takes the safety of our staff, patrons and collections seriously. We are requiring face masks, encouraging hand washing and social distancing, and instituting cleaning protocols with both people and collections in mind.

Our public programs and robust digital resources continue online. Remote reference and research services remain available through the Ask a Librarian form, or the In-depth Research Request form. If you are unable to visit in person, please consider shopping "local" through our museum's online store.
