The Princes of Portland: The Brown family of Bramhall and Thornhurst
An 1822 Leadership Circle Event

Recorded on December 2, 2020 – Jamie Rice, Director of Collections and Research at the Maine Historical Society, discusses the "The Princes of Portland: The Brown family of Bramhall and Thornhurst."

Through three generations of family stories, biographical sketches and architectural history, Jamie will explore the Brown Family's commitment and many contributions to Greater Portland's economy, and the social and historical landscape.

The Brown family played a central role in the growth of Portland through its businesses, including the J.B. Brown Company, Falmouth Hotel, Portland Sugar Company, railroad, banking, and real estate development, philanthropy, and civic leadership, including over a century of stewardship at MHS.

This was an exclusive 1822 Leadership Circle event.
