Giving Tuesday: Driving Maine History
Increase access for Maine schoolchildren to learn history beyond the classroom!

This #GivingTuesday, will you help inspire a child's sense of discovery, engagement and connection with Maine's history? Be part of DRIVING MAINE HISTORY and invest in school field trip transports to Maine Historical Society!

Through our popular educational program, students visit the Wadsworth-Longfellow house, participate in interactive experiences in our galleries, and explore walking tours that bring Maine history to life and make it current.

However, many Maine children face barriers to experiencing important learning opportunities beyond their classroom walls, because transportation costs in their districts are underfunded or unavailable.

Our DRIVING MAINE HISTORY project goal is to raise $2,000. With your help, funds will serve nearly 667 students by reimbursing transportation costs to schools in need that apply to us for a subsidy.

Transportation costs average $150 per bus, and each bus serves 50 students. That means a vital and memorable learning experience at MHS costs ONLY $3.00 PER STUDENT! For example, your gift of $30 will serve 10 students. A gift of $60 will serve 20. And a gift of $150 will fill a bus!

Help make a real difference in children's lives. Remove barriers to their learning. Support the DRIVING MAINE HISTORY Giving Tuesday campaign today!

The Maine Historical School and Interpretive Program serves nearly 2,000 K-12 students a year, in field trips to our campus, and outreach activities in schools. Programming is very well-received and requested in York and Cumberland Counties, in portions of Androscoggin Counties and other regions of the state.
